Led by Dr. Phil Hopkins
September 14-15, 2022 | Online
Day 1 | |
9am-1:30pm CDT | Course |
Day 2 | |
9am-1:30pm CDT | Course |
Introduction
1. Pipeline Basics
Pipeline basics, why pipelines fail, and pressure testing pipelines.
2. Fracture and Fatigue Mechanics
Some basics on fracture mechanics and crack growth using the Paris Law.
3. Assessing Corrosion
Methods for assessing corrosion, including ASME B31G.
4. Assessing Gouges and Dents
Mechanical damage (gouges, dents, and dents with gouges).
5. Assessing Cracks
Cracks, such as stress corrosion cracking, can be assessed for failure and growth.
6. Pipeline Repair
The main methods for repairing defects in pipelines such as welded sleeves and composite wraps.
7. Pipeline Inspection using ILI Tools
The main in-line inspection (ILI) tools in use to detect defects.
8. Pipeline Integrity Management
Introduction to pipeline integrity management and systems.
Learning before the Course
Attendees need to access some materials prior to attending the on-line course. These ‘pre-schools’ will ensure all attendees have some basic understanding of terminologies, definitions, etc. These pre-schools should be taken before the start of the course. The course trainer will assume attendees have taken these pre-schools, which cover these three elements:
